DESCRIPTION
A propaganda leaflet targeted at German soldiers, “Front-Illustrierte” was designed and illustrated by Alexander Zhitomirsky, one of the founding Soviet artists of the political photomontage genre. Millions of these leaflets urging surrender and promising leniency were dropped from Soviet planes over Nazi-occupied territory. The collection is comprised of 55 leaflets published between December 1941 and December 1944. These are double-sided spreads, ranging from 9.5 x 8.375 to 18.5 x 11.75 inches.

The collection was acquired in 2004 from an anonymous postcard dealer.
